Sunday Bible Hour

September to May, from 11:15 - 12:00pm

After church, everyone is invited to stay for an extra hour to dig deeper into the comforting truths we hear in worship so that we can all grow in our faith together.

For children 2-12 years old, we have 3 separate, age-appropriate Sunday School classrooms where they will spend time hearing Bible stories, singing, making crafts, and playing games. Our dedicated teachers foster a nurturing environment centered on the life-saving truth of the Gospel. Our goal is for your children to experience the peace of knowing that Jesus lived and died for them. Additionally, our teachers are committed to equipping parents with tools necessary to spiritually nurture their children at home.

For teens and adults, we offer a diverse range of biblical and topical studies designed to deepen our understanding of what the Bible says and what it means for our lives. Our Pastor draws out details and insights that bring aspects of the Bible into sharper focus. It’s a welcoming space where people of all backgrounds are encouraged to engage with God's Word and connect with one another.

Current Worship Series

Do you know the Ten Commandments? Can you recite them in order? How about their explanations? How important is that? This is what Martin Luther had to say:

“The catechism contains the minimum of knowledge a Christian should have. Whoever lacks this knowledge cannot be counted among Christians nor be admitted to the sacraments.”

Those are strong words from the Reformer! Nevertheless, they serve as a good reminder and encouragement for us to keep studying what we might call “the basics.” Nearly every job you might have requires regular training and ongoing education or recertification. Why should your faith – which is infinitely more important – be any different?

In this series we will pay careful attention to the first of six parts to the Christian catechism: the Ten Commandments.

Join us over the summer month for a new worship series: The Ten Commandments

Bible Basics

Have you ever wondered what the Bible has to say about dinosaurs, the end of the world, and different denominations? Have you been curious what Christianity is all about? Are you interested in what it would take to become a member of our congregation? Then, we invite you to join us for Bible Basics.

Join us Tuesday evenings, from 7:00-9:00pm, starting September 9. The class is free and there are no obligations!

Can’t make it Tuesday evenings? Other times are available upon request. Pastor Metzger is happy to meet with you individually. Please contact the church office for more details or to arrange a time that works for you.

Love Your Neighbor: Break the Stigma

Many people hesitate to talk about mental health, even when they’re struggling. As Christians, we can break the silence and show Christ-like love. Our church has short-term counseling services available at no cost to our members when referred by one of our pastors. The services are provided by Christian Family Solutions through their Member Assistance Program (MAP). Contact the church office if you wish to schedule a time to meet with pastor about your needs.

Visit ChristianFamilySolutions.org for additional information and faith-based mental health support.

Standing on the Rock; Sharing the Living Water

St. Peter’s Lutheran Church exists to help everyone stand more firmly on the Spiritual Rock, Jesus, so that we faithfully and energetically share his lifegiving water with the community and the world through our words and actions.

Nestled in historic Sturgeon Heights, St. Peter’s has been serving communities in Central Alberta for more than 50 years. Our namesake, the Apostle Peter, was one of Jesus’ disciples famous for being the first to confess that Jesus is the Saviour of the World. We share Peter’s confession and conviction and we want to share the wonderful news of Jesus with you too! The highlight of our ministry is weekly worship on Sundays at 10:00am. Schedule a visit with our pastor to learn more, or just stop on in!
